Umberto Nicolini

After the sad and unexpected passing of Clara Cardia, Umberto took on the role of Chair of the project until its completion. An architect graduated from the Politecnico di Milano, he had been involved in Professor Cardia’s research since the beginning of her work in Milan and later carried forward the legacy of the Urban Quality and Safety Laboratory. Specialised in environmental crime prevention and security policies—particularly in their operational aspects—he firmly believes in the need for a radical shift in design practices to build safer cities.
